Maureen Denise McCormick, the only child from Richard McCormick and Irene McCormick, was born in Woodland Hills California on 5 August 1956. Her father was an educator at school and her mother as mother at home. Michael Dennis and Kevin are three of her older brothers. McCormick started singing and performing at a very young age. When she was just 6years old, she won her first prize in the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley competition. Pat Domigan from the Jack Wormser Agency then called her and asked whether the actress was looking to pursue a career in showbusiness. McCormick got her first big task when she was cast in the commercial for television that was broadcast in 1964 of Mattels newest baby doll Baby Pattaburp. Later that year she did another commercial for Mattels Chatty Cathy doll and was later cast in the show the play Wind It Up And It Breaks at the La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch McCormick, chosen from more than 1500 auditioned children, was cast as the third of three head-to-head daughters, in The Brady Bunch (1969), starring Florence Henderson and Robert Reed. The show lasted five seasons. McCormick's memoir Heres the Story, Surviving Marcia Brady: Finding My True Voice was published in the year 2008. She revealed in it the fact that McCormick nearly lost her virginity on sets of the show in its fifth season to Barry Williams. He was just 19. She was 16. It could have been, she says. But, the time for our relationship was not the right one.
