When she was a child she appeared on television for the first time when she was two. After ten years in singing and dance lessons, her mother and she headed to L.A. to try and test whether a showbiz career was feasible. She got her first job as a professional performer in only two months: Danny Kaye's The Danny Kaye Show. She says "I utilized my education in singing and dance in many different ways." It's a great way to train actors." Her first role as an actor was in My Three Sons, followed by appearances in Gunsmoke, The Partridge Family, The Mod Squad, and Hawaii Five-O. O'Toole has been a part of more than forty television shows. In spite of her success on TV and in movies, O'Toole's passion is theater. Following her stint of six years on Smallville, O'Toole decided to focus on theater as she was doing for the past decade. Following her move from New York, she had her debut performance as a seagull in The Sea Gull. She's appeared in a variety of off-Broadway productions, among them Adam Rapp's Kindness Tracy Letts' Man from Nebraska and Tennessee Williams' A Lovely Sunday for Creve Couer.
